Private Residence - Remodel

This Craftsman style home started out as a 1960's contemporary. Angled roof lines, dark fir trim paneling throughout and floor to ceiling single paned windows were just some of the original characteristics. Among some of the major changes this property underwent, included structure reorientation, significant updating inside and out, and 2000 additional square feet on to the existing 2600.

The goal for this project was to maximize the view of Mt Rainier, follow as closely as possible to the Arts and Crafts design, construction philosophy and guidelines, and create a warm, comfortable home with classic and understated simplicity successfully exuded from the Arts and Crafts era. Steve Gwinn and the MatchPoint team accomplished this very effectively with the highest quality materials and craftsmanship. Formal rooms were eliminated in the main living space and a wide open expansive approach extending onto a heated deck with unobstructed views of Lake Washington and Mt. Rainier was created. Authentic details can be appreciated throughout the home. Hand dipped cedar shingles, fir trim copper windows, quarter sawn oak cabinetry and custom lighting are just some of the details and
components that successfully adorn this house and create a masterpiece in quality, authenticity, and simplistic elegance.
